TVS Victor to Be Re-Launched on January 20
Highlights
According to the latest communication from TVS, the Hosur-based two wheeler manufacturer will be launching its new 'products' on January 20. And these 'products' could well be three - two motorcycles and one new four-stroke moped.
The highly anticipated TVS Apache RTR 200 will be one of the motorcycles to be launched by TVS. Another motorcycle to be introduced, rather reintroduced, on January 20 is the TVS Victor which was discontinued in 2007. Launched for the first time in 2001, the 110cc TVS Victor did well in the beginning (selling almost 40,000 units a month), but died soon due to various reasons. Poor build quality, durability and after sales were some of the key factors for this bike not doing well despite being promising. After being launched in various engine capacities and avatars, Victor was finally discontinued in 2007.
With the reintroduction of the Victor, TVS will once again try to tap the most-successful commuter segment and revive a popular brand which even dented market leader Hero MotoCorp's sales. The bike is expected to be based on the same platform as the Star City Plus, but the engine may be retuned to give the Victor a sense of 'premiumness'.
Considering the innovative extra features TVS puts in its two-wheelers, the new Victor is also expected to be more equipped than the competition. If priced rightly, the new Victor might well be TVS's bestseller. The third product that the company might launch is a four-stroke moped which CarandBike thinks will replace the TVS XL.
