There is no denying that the 200 - 300cc bike segment in India has seen a a lot of growth recently. While commuter segment still continues to fetch most of the volume in the industry, the 200 - 300cc bike segment is also fetching good numbers.

Though Bajaj, along with KTM, has been among the most active players in the space, other bike makers too have now started investing in this segment. One such player is TVS, who, together with BMW, is developing sub-500cc bikes for emerging markets like India.

The first bike expected from the TVS-BMW stable is a 300cc street-fighter that was recently spotted testing in Germany. Codenamed K03, the 300cc fully-faired and adventure bike seems to have taken its design inspiration from the Draken concept that was showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

Powering the TVS-BMW K03 could be a 300cc water-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine. That said, the bike on test with a large radiator grille also hints at a larger engine displacement. The spy shots further suggest a back-to-front cylinder set up with a side mount exhaust. As far as the design is concerned, the bike features similar head-lamp cluster and fuel tank that we saw on the TVS Draken concept.

The TVS-BMW K03 will compete against KTM Duke 390 and Kawasaki Z250 upon its launch.
