TVS Announces Investment Of GBP 100 Million In Norton Motorcycle

TVS Motor Company announced an investment of GBP 100 million in Norton Motorcycle, which was acquired in April 2020. The announcement came on the sidelines of Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, visiting India. Norton Motorcycle also recently inaugurated its new global headquarters at Solar Park, in Solihull, UK, which houses a manufacturing facility, a new global design, and an R&D centre. This new facility was built within 18 months of TVS acquiring the British two-wheeler maker and is expected to create 250-300 jobs over the next 3 years and another 500-800 indirect jobs across the supply chain.

Boris Johnson said, “Trade and investment between the UK and India are creating good jobs and sustaining livelihoods in both of our countries. In April 2020, TVS Motor Company acquired the British two-wheeler maker for GBP 16 million, in an all-cash deal. At the time, the Indian firm said that Norton Motorcycles can leverage TVS Motor's global reach and supply chain capabilities to expand to new markets. Founded in 1898 by James Lansdowne Norton in Birmingham, Norton Motorcycles is among the most popular British motorcycle brands of all time, along with Triumph Motorcycles, BSA, and even Royal Enfield, which is now entirely under Indian ownership.
