Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled a new special edition model of its Rocket 3 models. Called the 221 Special Edition Rocket 3 R and 221 Special Edition Rocket 3 GT, the bikes will be available in a unique colour scheme and for one year only. The name is taken from the Rocket's performance numbers, with 221 Nm of peak torque, although there are no mechanical updates. The imposing and muscular stance of the Triumph Rocket 3 is retained, with distinctive twin headlights and sculpted three-header exhaust run.

The 221 Special Edition Triumph Rocket 3 models feature a distinctive colour scheme, with a Red Hopper fuel tank and front mudguard, contrasting with Sapphire Black mudguard brackets.

The 221 Edition Rockets feature a distinctive new paint scheme where the striking Red Hopper tank and front mudguard, beautifully contrasts with the Sapphire Black mudguard brackets, headlight bowls, flyscreen, side panels, rear bodywork and radiator cowls. The paint scheme is further enhanced by the bold and unique 221 knee pad graphics, as well as the subtle tank-top graphics.The single-sided swingarm and the hidden pillion footrests are retained as on the standard model.

Both the 221 Special Edition Rocket 3 models do not get any mechanical updates. Both bikes feature the same 2,458cc triple engine which delivers 221 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm and maximum power of 165 bhp at 6,000 rpm.

Both the Rocket 3 R and Rocket 3 GT are powered by the same 2,458cc triple engine, which delivers 221 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm, the world's highest torque on a production motorcycle.  Maximum power is a claimed 165 bhp at 6,000 rpm. The six-speed gearbox is paired with a torque-assist hydraulic clutch. The three-header exhaust delivers a meaty and throaty sound from the big triple engine.

The Rocket 3's suspension package includes a fully adjustable Showa monoshock rear suspension with piggy-back reservoir and 47 mm upside down Showa cartridge front forks, adjustable for compression and rebound damping.

The wheels are lightweight cast aluminium and come fitted with Avon Cobra Chrome tyres.

Like the standard variant, the 221 Special Edition Rocket 3s have the same differences, with the Rocket 3 GT getting better pillion comfort.

Both the 221 Special Edition R and GT models come with the standard specification of the base models, including cornering ABS, cornering traction control, both powered by a sophisticated inertial measurement unit (IMU). Four riding modes are standard, and include Road, Rain, Sport and Rider-configurable.

The instruments are full-TFT and are angle-adjustable, and also offer two layout themes which can be personalised. Both Rocket 221 editions come equipped with hill hold control, cruise control, keyless ignition and keyless steering lock, as well as an underseat USB charging socket. The Triumph Rocket 3 221 Special Edition models will have a limited production run, but we expect some units of the bikes to be introduced in India as well.
