Triumph Motorcycles India has launched the Bonneville Bobber at Rs 9.09 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), making it the top-of-the-line model in the Triumph Bonneville range. The newest addition to the British motorcycle manufacturer's Bonneville range will be the fifth bike in the modern classic range after the Street Twin, Bonneville T100, Bonneville T120 and Thruxton R.
Although the Bonneville is quintessentially classic British-bike, with the basic design from the '60s Bonneville, the Bonneville Bobber takes design inspiration from the 'bob jobs' in America during the 1940s. The new Bonneville Bobber is based on the engine platform of the Triumph Bonneville T120 although the engine has been tuned to make more power and torque lower in the rev range. In India, the Bonneville Bobber will take on established rivals like the Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom and the Harley-Davidson Roadster.
The engine on the new Bonneville Bobber is the same as the 1200 cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor of the Bonneville T120. It produces 76 bhp power at 6100 rpm and 106 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The Bonneville Bobber may have design inspiration from the bobbers from nearly eighty years ago, but there's all the state-of-the-art electronics and technical wizardry associated with a modern motorcycle. So, there's ABS, traction control, ride-by-wire and rider modes and the attention to detail showered on the aesthetics is truly commendable. With the new Bonneville Bobber, Triumph Motorcycles has certainly taken the game several notches higher in the modern classic genre of motorcycles.
