Toyota Kirloskar Motor Achieves 100 Per Cent Carbon Neutrality At Bidadi Plant

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) recently announced that the company achieved 100 per cent carbon neutrality at the Bidadi plant and eight on-site supplier companies in Karnataka. The massive feat was achieved by switching to more sustainable renewable energy, which resulted in offsetting carbon of 16,635.54 tons between April 2021 and September 2021. Toyota Global announced the 'Toyota Environment Challenge 2050' in a bid to achieve Challenge 3 - Plant Zero CO2 from the products across life cycle and manufacturing.

The roof-top solar panels generate generate 8.2 Mega Watts of power, while the solar park adds 18 Mega Watts

Speaking on TKM's milestone achievement, Raju B. Ketkale, Deputy Managing Director, Manufacturing, TKM said, "We at TKM have always given utmost importance to environment protection by incorporating the values of sustainable practices in our business and all our initiatives are designed towards lowering our environmental impact and achieving the goal of 'Living in Harmony with Nature'. Toyota fast-tracked its vision from 2050 to 2035 wherein it aims to make all of its facilities carbon neutral. The company's Bidadi plant meets that target way ahead of the timeline. The automaker did so by achieving roof-top solar power plants as well as ground-mounted facilities at its Bidadi premises. They make a combined power output of 8.2 Mega Watt. The plant is also equipped with an 18 Mega Watt solar park facility outside the company.
