Toyota Hilux Spotted In India Ahead Of Launch

The Toyota Hilux is expected to go on sale in India early next year and the pick-up SUV is being spotted frequently ahead of its launch in India. Last week spy images of the truck from its television commercial (TVC) shoot surfaced online and now one of our viewers spotted the pick-up truck in the mountains and Toyota is likely continuing with the TVC shoot in the Northern part of India. The Toyota Hilux seen in the pictures is completely undisguised and we do get a better understanding of what to expect from this upcoming pick-up truck.

Upcoming Toyota Hilux Pick-Up Spotted During TVC Shoot

For starters, the Toyota Hilux is likely to be offered only in the double-cab variant and it shares its underpinnings with the current Toyota Innova Crysta and Fortuner. It is spawned by the IMV-2 platform and in fact there are quite a few identifiable bits that have been borrowed from the Innova Crysta. That said, the face does look new and fresh with a larger hexagonal grille, sweptback LED headlamps with LED DRLs, new bumper, 18-inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, side-step, body cladding, and LED taillight. On the inside, the Hilux is likely to get an all-black cabin with features like leather upholstery, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated seats, cruise control, eight-way electrically adjustable front seats, connected car tech among others.

Engine specifications of the Toyota Hilux are still under wraps. However, the pick-up truck is likely to be powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine that develops 201 bhp and 420 Nm of peak torque. The automatic variant makes 500 Nm of peak torque. The carmaker could introduce both 4x2 and 4x4 versions to cater to different customer requirements. The Hilux will be locally assembled at Toyota's Bidadi plant in Karnataka. When launched, it will take on the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in the segment.
