Toyota Hilux India Launch Details Revealed

The Toyota Hilux was spotted testing in India a couple of times last month and we also told you that the lifestyle pickup truck was scheduled to go on sale early this year in India. Well! The Japanese carmaker is all set to launch the Toyota Hilux Pickup truck in India on January 20 which is when the company will also start accepting bookings for the model. That said, the delivery of the new Toyota Hilux will only begin in March 2022.

The Toyota Hilux comes loaded with creature comforts.

The Toyota Hilux will be offered only in the double-cab variant and it shares its underpinnings with the current Toyota Innova Crysta and Fortuner. It is spawned by the IMV-2 platform and in fact there are quite a few identifiable bits that have been borrowed from the Innova Crysta. That said, the face does look new and fresh with a larger hexagonal grille, sweptback LED headlamps with LED DRLs, new bumper, 18-inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, side-step, body cladding, and LED taillight. On the inside, the Hilux is likely to get an all-black cabin with features like leather upholstery, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated seats, cruise control, eight-way electrically adjustable front seats, connected car tech among others.

It shares its engine options with the Fortuner.
Engine specifications of the Toyota Hilux are still under wraps. However, the pick-up truck is likely to be powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine that develops 201 bhp and 420 Nm of peak torque. The automatic variant makes 500 Nm of peak torque. The carmaker could introduce both 4x2 and 4x4 versions to cater to different customer requirements. The Hilux will be locally assembled at Toyota's Bidadi plant in Karnataka. When launched, it will take on the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in the segment.
