Toyota GR Corolla Teased Ahead Of Market Debut

Toyota USA took to social media platforms to teas the upcoming hot hatch - the GR Corolla and it's launch is expected around the corner. Now the rear of the new Toyota GR Corolla has a very GR Yaris sense and especially the way wider rear track has been done. Obviously, the teaser image has received a photoshop treatment to give it bit of an anime appeal, but design elements at the rear are quite apparent. For instance, the c-shaped taillights, steeply raked rear windscreen and a long rear bumper sporting the rather sleek exhaust tips are something we are familiar with. That said, we can't clearly see design tweaks at the front which was shown in the previous teaser, but yes! The fascia looks a bit more aggressive.

What we also expect to see is the GR4 badging on the side which would mean that it'll be an all-wheel-drive (AWD) car. According to rumours, it will source power from the tried and tested 1.6-litre, three-cylinder engine seen on the GR Yaris and it will be tuned to churn out around 264 bhp. Now the GR Yaris comes with the six-speed manual transmission and which we expect will make way to the GE Corolla as well, and that's another thing Japanese, American and European buyers will be excited about.

But sadly! We don't have that chance as Toyota hasn't shared any plans about getting the GR Corolla to our shores. What we could expect is the regular Yaris hatchback instead which is already being tested on our soil. Toyota's previous GR Corolla teaser too gave many such details, but this time around, the Japanese carmaker has made thing quite a lot apparent.
