The crash tests are important means to assess a vehicle's built quality and safety quotient. carandbike has always advocated the significance of crash tests. All these years, safety watchdogs like Global NCAP, Euro NCAP and Latin NCAP have prompted car manufacturers to make safer cars. Euro NCAP has released a list of cars that it crash-tested in 2021 and highlighted the safest ones. In 2021, thirty-three cars were assessed by the watchdog among which twenty-one achieved the top accolade. Here are the top 5 cars that have been rated as safest by the watchdog.

The top slot was occupied by the Subaru Outback receiving a full 5-star safety rating. The car bagged 88 per cent for adult occupant protection and 89 per cent for child occupant protection. The model also scored 84 per cent for vulnerable road users and 95 per cent for safety assist. The Polestar 2 is the next car on the list. The 5-door fastback received 5-star safety ratings from the watchdog. The car scored 93 per cent for adult occupant safety and 89 per cent for child occupant protection. As for vulnerable road users and safety assist, the car scored 80 per cent and 86 per cent, respectively.
Next up is the Genesis G80. The 4-door executive saloon scored 91 per cent for adult occupant safety and 87 per cent for child occupant safety. For vulnerable road users, the car bagged 77 per cent but for safety assist it received 91 per cent.
The Euro NCAP awarded a full 5-star safety rating to the Nissan Qashqai. The SUV scored 91 per cent for adult occupant protection and 91 per cent for child occupant protection. However, the rating for vulnerable road users stood at 70 per cent whereas safety assist was at 95 per cent.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS is the fifth car that recently received 5-star safety ratings from the Euro NCAP. The electric scored 96 per cent for adult occupant safety while child occupant safety rating stood at 91 per cent. The EV scored 76 per cent for vulnerable road users and 80 per cent for safety assist.
