Bhavina Patel is the first table tennis player ever to win a medal at the Paralympics for India. She is also the only second female athlete after Deepa Malik to bag a medal for the country. While Chaba did not announce which car will be gifted to Bhavina Patel, the company does have an elaborate line-up of SUVs to offer. This includes the MG Gloster, Hector, Hector Plus, ZS EV, and the upcoming Astor compact SUV. It will be interesting to see if Bhavina Patel becomes one of the first owners of the Astor, which is slated to go on sale in a few weeks from now.
It's encouraging to see auto manufacturers rising up to the occasion to celebrate the achievements of Indian athletes. Mahindra will be gifting the new XUV700 to javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who brought India its first gold in over 13 years in the Olympics. Meanwhile, Tata Motors, in a heartwarming gesture, recently gifted the Altroz hatchback to 24 Olympic athletes who finished fourth. Renault India also gifted the Kiger subcompact SUV to Tokyo Olympics 2020 medallists Mirabai Chanu, Ravi Kumar Dahiya and Bajrang Punia, as well as boxer MC Mary Kom.
In a more recent update, Anand Mahindra announced that Mahindra & Mahindra will gift paralympic shooter Avani Lekhara an SUV that offers a special mechanism for easy ingress and egress. Lekhara won the gold in the women's 10m AR Standing SH1 final setting a paralympic record.
