Ford celebrated 50 years of the legendary Mustang, but the biggest surprise party was thrown by its arch rival, General Motors. Ford and General Motors are of course rivals, but that hasn't stopped Chevrolet from paying tribute to the Mustang's 50th anniversary.

Officials from Chevrolet say that the "healthy competition" between the Camaro and Mustang has been a "driving force for constant improvement." It has been a long standing rivalry between the two and they've taken every chance to outdo each other.

GM's Executive Vice President of Global Product Development, Mark Reuss said, "For five decades, the Camaro and the Mustang have been battling it out in every possible setting. These two cars have been striving to beat each other on the track, on the drag strip and on the streets. That competition is a big part of why both cars are so amazing, and so popular, today."

Both muscle cars have made a statement for themselves but this gesture from the people at General Motors goes a long was in making one understand that there is camaraderie in a fiercely competitive market.
