  • The vehicle could now have two size options
  • Tesla has been talking up design changes and new features
  • Deliveries will likely start late in 2022

Tesla's CyberTruck has been in the works for more than two years now after its unveiling in late 2019. It was revealed that in 2020, Tesla was working on making some design modifications towards the CyberTruck for both usability and regulatory issues but they were deemed to be minor changes. However, in recent months Elon Musk has announced there have been many feature additions like a more advanced AutoPilot system with a new self-driving chip, a crab mode, four motor action - but the one thing that many haven't expected is a change of size or rather an option in size.

Musk did say in November 2019, that it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a smaller version of the CyberTruck, but then again, he has had two extra years to work on the problem. It is looking increasingly likely that Musk May unveil two models of the CyberTruck in March 2022 and both will have significant tweaks if reports from Global Equities Research are to be believed. This model could be 15 to 20 percent smaller which would be significant but likely will also come with a lower range for a more urban audience.

The CyberTruck was announced to great fanfare in late 2019 before the advent of the pandemic

Tesla has an earnings call planned for January 26 where Musk is expected to attend and give a debrief around the situation for the CyberTruck which was delayed after the semiconductor crisis struck the world last year. While the CyberTruck was supposed to be the first electric pickup truck, it has been beaten to the punch by the Rivian R1T which has launched to glowing reviews. Even the Hummer EV pickup truck has launched and increasingly, even Ford is likely to deliver its first F-150 Lightning before the CyberTruck which will likely start deliveries only in the last quarter of the year.

Tesla delayed the launch of the CyberTruck last year because it wanted to make critical design changes to the car and make additions that would make it more competitive.
