Terra Motors, the Japanese electric vehicle maker, has finally forayed into the Indian market with the launch of its electric superbike, Kiwami. Offered at a price of Rs. 18 lakh, Terra Motors claims that the bikes performance is proportionate to that of a 1000cc sportsbike. The Kiwami runs on a lithium ion battery, and delivers a running range of over 200km and takes about 6 hours to charge.
Toru Tokushige, CEO & founder, Terra Motors, said, "India is the second largest producer of two-wheelers in the world, and hence it is an important market in our strategic growth plan. We intend to invest Rs. 30 crore in the Indian market next fiscal (FY 2014-15). With this mission, Terra Motors is set to deliver electric vehicles of high quality in India." He further added that the company plans to sell 10,000 bikes in India in the next 2 years. Also, with the government's supportive policy, they will be able to sell about 5,000 units of electric three-wheelers as well.

The electric vehicle maker's Indian subsidiary, Terra Motors India will display its future line-up (including executive e-scooters and e-three-wheelers) other than the Kiwami electric bike at the Auto Expo in Delhi.
