Tata Motors to Supply 1,180 Electric Buses To West Bengal

Tata Motors has bagged an order to supply 1,180 electric buses to the state of West Bengal. The new models are expected to be delivered by the end of 2023. The new buses have been procured under Convergence Energy Services Limited’s (CESL) ‘Grand Challenge’. The electric buses will be supplied to the West Bengal Transport Corporation with Tata to handle the maintenance of the buses.
The buses to be supplied will fall under two categories – 9 meters long and 12 metres long with both offered with and without air conditioning. The 9 metre buses will be available with the standard floor configuration in AC and non AC guise while the 12 metre model will be available in air-conditioned low floor and non-AC standard floor variants.

Tata has also supplied electric buses to Mumbai's BEST and is also to supply 1,500 e-buses to Delhi's DTC
As per reports, 400 electric buses are expected to be delivered by the end of 2022 with the balance being delivered in 2023.
The latest order for electric buses from the state of West Bengal follows just days after the company bagged an order of 1,500 electric buses from the Delhi Transport Corporation.
Tata currently markets its all-electric Starbus EV range in India in two sizes – 9m and 12m sizes – in standard and low floor configurations available on the longer models.
