Suzuki Motor Corp President T Suzuki Announces New Company Called Suzuki R&D Centre India

Suzuki Motor Corporation's President is in India as Maruti Suzuki celebrates 40 years in the country, and President Toshihiro Suzuki has announced the establishment of a new company called ‘Suzuki R&D Centre India’. The new company will be wholly owned by Suzuki Japan, and it will carry out its research and development operations in India for the global markets.
Suzuki is a global automotive giant, and as Maruti Suzuki, the Japanese automaker has had a market share of over 50% in India for many years. Its sales figures have dropped in the recent years, but Maruti Suzuki aims to regain the market share soon by launching multiple new SUVs in the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki recently launched the new Brezza subcompact SUV, which has been popular in its earlier guise.
In a partnership with Toyota, Maruti Suzuki also developed a brand new compact SUV, which introduces the hybrid powertrain to the compact SUV segment. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder were unveiled recently, and will be launched in the market soon.
With this new R&D company, Suzuki aims to strengthen its research and development competitiveness not only for India but also for the global markets. Suzuki will also strengthen ties with Indian academic institutes and start-ups to develop diverse human resources.
