SsanYong SIV-2 Previewed; Will Debut at the Geneva Motor Show
Highlights
We've seen the SIV-1 concept at the Geneva Motor show about three years ago and this is not an entirely new one. The SIV-2 will employ the concept's "Robust, Speciality, Premium" design language and is said to be a key model in the SsangYong range.
Being a concept, it will come powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine which will work together with electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. According to the folks at SsangYong, the 48V mild-hybrid arrangement grants quiet and efficient driving, reduced CO2 emissions and silent running when idling and at slow speeds.
The SIV-2 benefits from a low centre of gravity and the lightweight construction adds to what this SUV has to offer. SsangYong hasn't let on other details about the SIV-2 but says that the SUV's chassis and suspension can be adapted for various types of powertrains, including hybrids and pure electric vehicles.
The concept will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year and we will get to know about it then. We will have to see if the production version of this car will come to India, but in all likelihood if the Tivoli makes it here, this one won't be far behind. The new design language has already captured a lot of eyeballs and we've seen the Tivoli gain much attention at the 2016 Auto Expo. We can't wait to see what SsangYong plans to bring to India soon.
