Smart ForTwo and ForFour Teased Ahead of Debut on July 16
Highlights
Smart, Daimler AG's division that designs, manufactures and markets microcars, has released a teaser for the 2015 ForTwo and ForFour. The next generation of the ForTwo and For Four will be revealed on July 16 in Berlin, Germany.
The teaser video shows just how big Smart's ambitions are, and how they intend to realise these ambitions. Quite obviously, the ForFour will not be as humongous as the one in the video but the effort of marketing their USP, i.e. space, needs to be applauded.
Both cars will borrow 70% of their parts from the new Renault Twingo, including the 67bhp churning, 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder engine and the 89bhp 0.9-litre engine.
The ForTwo will get an overall length of 2569mm and will be 100mm wider than the previous car, i.e. it will measure 1659mm in width. The ForFour, on the other hand, will be 252mm shorter than the previous generation and will be 3500mm long. The duo will feature a rear-wheel drive layout and should be offered with a standard 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.
