Skoda Witnessing Higher Than Anticipated Demand For Slavia 1.5 TSI

Skoda revealed that the company is witnessing greater than anticipated demand for the Slavia 1.5 TSI. The company said it currently had 14,000 bookings for its new compact sedan with 30 per cent of it for the more powerful 1.5 TSI model. The company said that it has anticipated about 15 per cent of the demand to come from the more expensive model with the current numbers double its expectations.

Going by the company's numbers it has received orders for approximately 4,200 units (30 per cent of 14,000 units booked) of the more powerful 1.5 TSI Slavia since bookings first opened. This also suggests that the top trims are garnering quite a bit of interest with the 1.5 TSI limited solely to the fully-loaded Style trim.

The 1.5 TSI is limited to just the fully-loaded Style trim.

The greater than anticipated demand also seems to have affected the Slavia's waiting period. The 1.0 TSI models have an average waiting period of up to 2 months while the 1.5 TSI sees this number extend up to 4 months.

The Slavia was launched earlier this year and is Skoda's second model under Skoda-Volkswagen's India 2.0 plan. The petrol-only sedan is available with a choice of engine options – a 114 bhp 1.0 TSI turbo-petrol available across the range and the more powerful 148 bhp 1.5 TSI turbo-petrol limited to just the top variant. Prices for the model currently start at Rs 10.69 lakh and go up to Rs. 17.79 lakh (ex-showroom). 

Skoda says that it is expecting sales of the Slavia to top out at 3,000 units per month in the long run.
