Skoda Surpasses 1 Million Sales Milestone Globally In 2016
Skoda Auto has achieved a new milestone this year, having surpassed the one million vehicle deliveries mark in 2016. The Czech automaker managed to achieve the sales figure for the third consecutive year with strong contributions from the new generation Superb and Octavia, while the Rapid and Fabia added positive numbers as well.

Czech carmaker Skoda Auto has surpassed the one million vehicle deliveries mark in 2016, achieving a new milestone for the year. The Volkswagen Group automaker has managed to achieve the sales feat for the third consecutive year, and in fact, a month earlier when compared to the period taken in 2015.
Marking the new achievement, Skoda CEO, Bernhard Maier said, "The current financial year shows that Skoda can sustainably tap into new customer segments with a modern model range on the international markets. We will also continue our growth course in 2017. The new Skoda Kodiaq is going to play an important role in this; the model will expand our range in the growing SUV segment."
A larger contribution to Skoda's ever growing numbers was made by the newly launched Superb sedan. The automaker's flagship offering sold a total of 1,15,000 units from January to November 2016. The numbers equate an increase of 85.2 per cent over the same period last year, wherein the model sold 61,900 units between January and October 2015.
Not only the Superb, but Skoda's compact cars the Fabia hatchback and Rapid also managed to grab significant increase in year-on-year sales of 6.7 per cent and 7 per cent respectively. The new Octavia too recorded a healthy number of sales this year with 3,61,000 units delivered globally between January and October 2016.
For 2017, Skoda would want to continue raking in the positive sales and a major contribution to the same will be coming from the all-new Kodiaq SUV, set to go on sale next year. The automaker's largest SUV till date, orders for the Kodiaq have already commenced across several markets, while the first batch of deliveries will happen in February next year.
In addition, Skoda also has major revisions planned for the Octavia next year, while the new generation Rapid for the European markets also in the pipeline. In India, Skoda will be introducing the Octavia Black Edition next year, while the Kodiaq is expected to make its debut in 2018.
