Skoda Auto India has launched a new limited edition model of the Rapid sedan in India. It's called the Skoda Rapid Matte Edition and the car comes with considerable cosmetic updates, both on the exterior as well as the interior. Skoda has already sold over 1 lakh units of the Rapid in India, and the company feels that the compact sedan has great resonance with auto enthusiasts across the country. Thus, the carmaker has decided to expand the Rapid line-up with the launch of the new limited edition model. And here's all you need to know about the new Skoda Rapid Matte Edition.

- The new Skoda Rapid Matte Edition comes in an exclusive carbon steel matte colour. The dark shade is further accentuated by exterior elements like - the radiator grille, spoiler, door handle, tailgate spoiler, and trunk lip garnish, which are all treated in a stylish glossy black shade.
- The car is based on the top-spec Monte Carlo variant of the car, so you get features like projector headlamps, LED DRLs, foglamps, and ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights. Skoda is exclusively offering high visibility performance bulbs with this limited edition model. The Rapid Matte Edition also comes with a set of new all-black alloy wheels.

- Inside, the new Rapid Matte Edition comes with dual-tone Tellur Grey interiors. The cabin also comes with new premium black leatherette upholstery featuring Alcantara inserts, that give the car a sporty appearance. Skoda also offers stainless-steel scuff plates with Rapid inscription.
- The cabin continues to come with the 6.5-inch Drive Audio Player Central Infotainment System, which comes with a rearview camera. We still do not get Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, however, Skoda has equipped the Rapid Matte Edition with a USB Air Purifier. Other features like a central armrest, rear AC vents, automatic climate control are also on offer.

The cabin is finished in dual-tone tellur grey interior with black leatherette and Alcantara inserts
- In terms of safety, the car gets dual airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) parktronic rear parking sensors, auto-dimming inner rearview mirror, rear windscreen defogger with timer, height-adjustable three-point seatbelts at the front, rough road package and engine immobilizer with floating code system are standard.
- Under the hood, the Rapid Matte Edition continues to be powered by the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged TSI petrol motor belting out 108 bhp at 5000 - 5500 rpm and 175 Nm of peak torque at 1750 rpm - 4000 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard while a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission is optional.
- The new Skoda Rapid Matte Edition is priced in India at Rs. 11.99 lakhs for the manual transmission and Rs. 13.49 for the automatic transmission (Both ex-showroom, India). While the manual option is priced the same as the Monte Carlo variant of the Rapid, the automatic trim is Rs. 20,000 more expensive than the regular top-end variant of the Rapid.
