Skoda recently unveiled the updated model of the Octavia vRS internationally. From what we hear, it will make its way to India sometime in the middle of 2017. There will be two body variants in the estate and as a hatchback form, although, we believe India will get only the hatchback body-type (notchback in this case).
The front end has been slightly revised with a wider grille and air intakes along with new LED headlamps and a slightly tweaked bumper as well. The headlamps come with adaptive front lighting system (AFS). The rear also sees changes in the form of black diffuser and a spoiler at the rear. The license plate is LED illuminated along with the tail lamps as well. The 2017 Skoda Octavia vRS also gets refreshed interiors which include vRS sport seats in leather/fabric combination. The steering wheel is multifunctional and has paddleshifts as well. the interior can be bathed in ambient lighting as well. There are a few clever touches in the form of illuminated door-handle recesses, umbrella under driver seat, LED torch in the boot and so on.
The new Skoda Octavia vRS also gets a revised suspension setup and a wider track at the rear. As usual, the dynamic chassis control or the DCC is a standard fitment. Coming to the engine options, the Skoda Octavia vRS gets a 2.0-litre TSI motor, which produces 230bhp and peak torque of 350Nm. The 0-100 km/h mark is breached in 6.7 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h. The other option is the 2.0-litre TDI engine which produces 184bhp and peak torque of 380Nm. It can hit a maximum speed of 232 km/h and takes 7.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h from standstill. The TDI model can be specified with a 4-wheel drive system as well. Both the engine variants come with a 6-speed manual transmission or with a 6-speed DSG unit as well. The car also gets a variety of driver assistance systems and the latest generation of the Skoda infotainment systems.
Till date, Skoda has sold over 200,000 models of the Octavia RS and vRS variants of which 100,000 variants were of the 2013 variant itself. Read our review of the 2016 Skoda Octavia RS.
