Skoda Enyaq Coupe IV Teased, Debut On Jan 31, 2022

Apart from the main Volkswagen brand, the other two mass-market plays for the VW group are Skoda and SEAT. Now, Skoda which has been making EVs based on the Volkswagen ID line of electric cars has teased the Enyaq Coupe iV which is basically the coupe version of the Enyaq. The Enyaq was of course based on the Audi A4 and the Volkswagen ID.5 and its coupe version will debut early next year on January 31. One of the impressive aspects of this EV is its drag coefficient - 0.234 which is better than its cousins even though it has been built on the same Volkswagen MEB platform. Skoda is even touting the fact the Enyaq Coupe will be the sleekest in its class. 

Skoda is touting 535 kilometres of the range which is better than 497 kilometres for the Audi A4 and 520 kilometres for the Volkswagen ID.5. This extra mileage can be due to the lower drag coefficient which means the car is more aerodynamically efficient. Even the standard Enyaq has a lower range of 510 kilometres. This coupe will be offered in 60 and 80 SKUs with the 80x being the dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant.

There will be twin battery options at 62 kWh and 82 kWh with 174.5 bhp, 198 bhp and 253 bhp models. The cargo capacity of this vehicle will be at 570 litres with the rear seats in their place. Thanks to its coupe nature it will sacrifice storage and headroom on the rear seat a bit. However, interestingly, the coupe variant of this car is 1-inch taller than the standard model and its alloy wheels will range between 19-inches and 21-inches. 

Overall, this is part of the Volkswagen blitzkrieg in the EV space after its audacious $90 billion-plus investment in the EV space. It strives to become the world's largest maker of EVs in a bid to displace Tesla from its top perch.
