Highlights
- The paint work is inspired by the snow-capped mountain peaks of Himalayas
- The Himalayan with the camouflage shade won't get any mechanical changes
- The Himalayan is powered by a 411 cc air-cooled motor tuned for 24.5 bhp
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is presently the country's most affordable adventure tourer and despite its niggles, the bike is quite popular at those looking for a no-nonsense adventure motorcycle. While the bike was originally launched in black and white colours in 2016, the Chennai-based bike maker will now introduce the Himalayan with a new camouflage paint scheme on January 12, 2018. Inspired by the snow-capped mountain peaks of the Himalayas, images of the bike with the new paint work were recently leaked online and complement the motorcycle.

The new camouflage paint job extends to the fuel tank, as well as front and rear fenders. The engine and frame continue to be finished in black. Apart from the new paint work though, the Royal Enfield Himalayan isn't expected to get any major changes. The adventure tourer was updated comprehensively last year boasting of better build quality as well as the updated BS-IV compliant engine.
As a result, the Royal Enfield Himalayan now comes with fuel-injection added to the same 411 cc single-cylinder, long-stroke, air-cooled motor. The bike produces 24.5 bhp at 6500 rpm and 32 Nm of peak torque at 4250 rpm, while paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The tourer also comes equipped with a long travel telescopic front suspension and a monoshock setup at the rear, a first for any Royal Enfield offering.
After being pulled off shelves briefly last year, Royal Enfield worked upon improving the component quality on the Himalayan and commenced deliveries once again around the festive season. Details on the Himalayan camouflage edition will be out next week including the pricing. For the standard version, the RE Himalayan is priced at Rs. 1.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
