It's no secret that Royal Enfield is working on an adventure tourer - the Himalayan; the motorcycle has been on test for quite sometime now. Now a clearer test mule of the production-ready model has been spied by the folks at AutoX, revealing some interesting details about the bike.

As seen in the pictures, the bike looks quite different from the existing Royal Enfield lot. That said, it does take some design cues from other big RE bikes, including Continental GT and Thunderbird. The entire rear-section of the bike, along with the seat, is positioned high to offer better suspension travel during off-roading, while the front forks' rake angle looks quite similar to that of the Thunderbird.

Features that it borrow from the Continental GT comprise the fuel tank, dual disc brakes, instrument cluster and tyres. Other interesting elements are angled exhaust, round head-lamps, windshield and raised handlebars.

Powering the Royal Enfield Himalayan will be an all-new 410cc, single-cylinder engine. Expected to launch next year, the Royal Enfield Himalayan will create a niche segment for itself as the Bajaj's adventure range - AS150 & AS200- fall in the entry-level segment, while others like Triumph Tiger and Ducati Multistrada are from the high-end segment. Upon its launch, this special purpose motorcycle might be positioned above the Continental GT which, currently, is the most expensive Royal Enfield bike in India.
