Royal Enfield has released an updated price list for eight major cities, increasing prices across its complete motorcycle range in the country. The price hike though is marginal, starting from Rs. 1100 for the recently launched Himalayan, and going up to Rs. 3600 on the Classic Chrome 500. While the company has not mentioned a reason for the hike, rising material and production costs can be attributed to the same. The new prices are applicable with immediate effect.

This is a second price hike by Royal Enfield within a year's time. The increment though has been marginal and will not ideally affect the sales momentum of the company. The Eicher Motor's owned bike maker has managed to carve a niche for itself over the years and more recently has been diversifying into newer segments with products like the Continental GT and the Himalayan. While the former may not have churned into a successful offering, the latter surely seems to have caught everyone's fancy.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan then, is a major step up for the company not only in terms of the segment it chooses to operate, but also with respect to the technology and features its bikes have to offer. The more recent years have also seen RE focus on its global operations, establishing shops across the world including Ireland, Dubai, South East Asia, North America among others. Eicher Motors MD and CEO, Siddhartha Lal's move to the operate from the UK showed further concentration in the company's global operations.

Keeping up with its promise to introduce one new model every year, Royal Enfield is now working on updating existing range, while its flagship offering - a 750cc twin-cylinder cruiser is also under development and will help the company achieve its aim of becoming one of the foremost players globally in the middle-weight segment.
