  • Two variants of the new 750 cc Royal Enfield expected
  • The new bikes will have a 750 cc parallel-twin engine

Royal Enfield will launch its new 750 cc motorcycle at the upcoming EICMA motorcycle show in Milan on November 7. The new Royal Enfield 750 cc motorcycle has been spotted several times undergoing testing in Tamil Nadu, and so far, two variants of the 750 cc Royal Enfield has been spotted. Both bikes incorporate retro design, with one variant following typical modern classic design cues while the other is expected to be a café racer design, on the lines of the Royal Enfield Continental GT.

There has been speculation that the new 750 cc Royal Enfield bike will be called the Royal Enfield Interceptor, a name which has seen several Royal Enfield models during the 1960s and '70s when Royal Enfield was a British company with headquarters in Redditch, England. Royal Enfield is currently a wholly owned Indian company, and the 750 cc models will be the flagship motorcycles in the Chennai-headquartered company's line-up. The latest models will also sport the first twin-cylinder engines and the most powerful in the company's current model range.

The new 750 cc Royal Enfield motorcycle will be the first motorcycle developed at the Royal Enfield Technology Centre in the UK. The new 750 cc parallel-twin engine is expected to make around 50 bhp of maximum power and a peak torque of around 60 Nm. We expect the engine to be a refined unit, boasting of a wide torque range for easy cruising ability. While it has been widely speculated that the new model will be called the Royal Enfield Interceptor, CarandBike has learnt that the name has not been finalised yet, although the 'Interceptor' moniker will certainly pay tribute to the 1960s Royal Enfield model of the same name.

Expect more details once we get to see the new Technological Centre in the UK, followed by a visit to the 2017 EICMA show in Milan where the new models are expected to be unveiled. Officially though, Royal Enfield is tight-lipped about any launch plans and future product strategy. However, going by the number of times the upcoming 750 cc Royal Enfield motorcycles have been spotted undergoing test runs, we can certainly infer that this will indeed be a new chapter in Royal Enfield's history. Eicher Motors-owned Royal Enfield is looking at establishing itself as a global leader in mid-size motorcycles, and the new 750 cc motorcycle will certainly give Royal Enfield a much-needed shot in the arm to make a mark as a truly global manufacturer of modern classic motorcycles.
