We told you about it Renault's campaign to retain the fastest FWD crown at the Nurburgring and now the French car manufacturer has taken the wraps off the Megane 275 Trophy limited edition which is all set to attack the track.

Renault had called it the #UNDER8 project and this one is an uprated variant of the Megane Trophy. The Megane 275 will be Renaults answer to getting back the title of the fastest front-wheel drive at the Nurburgring. The title currently belongs to Seat's Leon Cupra 280 which lapped the Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 58.4 seconds.

The Megane 275 gets 10bhp more which takes the power tally to 273bhp which is generated by the 4-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbo with a peak torque of 360 Nm. The Akrapovic titanium exhaust system is lighter and adds a grunt into the sound. Limited slip-differential and adjustable Ohlins Road & Track dampers also make their way into the car. Renaultsport is offering optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres created specifically for the Megane 275 Trophy.

It's all yellow on the outside and gets leather and leather & Alcantara Recaro bucket seats with red stitching on the inside. The car will do a lap on the Nurburgring soon and the time will be revealed on the 16th of June but the people at Renaultsport look confident to beat the Seat Leon Cupra by a long margin.
