Renault Lodgy Gets 5 Year Celebration Discounts; Starts at Rs. 7.59 Lakh
Renault India has introduced a price cut on the Lodgy MPV ranging between Rs. 97,000-34,000 depending on the variant, as part of its five-year celebrations in the country.

Renault India has introduced a price cut on the Lodgy MPV ranging between Rs. 97,000-34,000 depending on the variant, as part of its five-year celebrations in the country. The MPV that went on sale in April last year now starts at a price tag of Rs. 7.58,831 (ex-showroom Delhi), as against the previous price tag of Rs. 8.56 lakh for the base trim. That said, it is not clear yet if the discounts have been issued for a temporary period or will continue for the remainder of the year.
The discounts though are restricted on the 83bhp variant of the Lodgy, while the 108bhp powered variants remain unaffected. The discount certainly looks impressive and adds to the value for money quotient of the MPV. In comparison, prices for the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga diesel start at Rs. 7.08 lakh while the Honda Mobilio range starts at Rs. 8.67 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
The discount scheme can also be seen as Renault's strategy to counter the sales of the new Toyota Innova Crysta that is doing stupendously well. Despite commanding a premium in terms of price as well as an extensive waiting period, there is absolutely no dearth of demand for the model in its new generation avatar. The Lodgy with a discount then makes a compelling case for private and fleet buyers alike as the price gap between the two MPVs has further increased.
The maximum discount available on the Renault Lodgy 83bhp variant is Rs. 97,000 and is available on the base Std. trim, which is targeted towards commercial fleet and taxi operators. The RxE 85 now get a discount of Rs. 80,000, while the RxL 85 is cheaper by Rs. 56,000 and the RxZ 85 by Rs. 34,000. The discounted prices have come into effect from July 2016.
In terms of features and powertrain, the Renault Lodgy gets no changes and continues with the 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine tuned in two states - 83bhp and 200Nm of torque as well as 108bhp and 245Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed manual on either version. Based on the same platform as the Duster and also priced competitively in the segment, the Lodgy has not turned out to be a volume seller for Renault India in the market. The discount just might give the Lodgy a much needed boost ahead of the new AMT trim that is slated to join the lineup soon.
