Highlights

Renault, the French automaker, has unveiled its first-ever medium-sized pickup truck - the Duster Oroch. To be sold exclusively in the South American market from the second half of 2015, the vehicle made its debut at the Buenos Aires Motor Show. Based on the company's highly successful compact SUV Duster, the Oroch is positioned between the half-ton and one-ton pick-ups. With five seats and four doors, it combines a double cab with a level of space comparable to a bigger pickup, says the company.

"This new model, Renault's first pickup, is the next step in Renault's globalization strategy. With Renault Duster Oroch, the brand is launching its offensive in the competitive pickup segment", said Ashwani Gupta, Renault's Global Head of Light Commercial Vehicles.

Since the LCV is based on the Duster compact SUV, both the vehicles look identical. Though the former gets a new single-slat front grille, sportier bumpers, new tail-lamps and a pick-up like design from the C-pillar to the end. That said, the side profile looks almost similar to the Duster till the B-pillar.

The vehicle's cabin too have been borrowed from the Duster as it features the same all black interiors with silver accents, 3-spoke steering wheel with control buttons, infotainment system with 7-inch display and navigation, etc.

The engine options on offer will be 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre engines, mated to a 5-speed and 6-speed manual gearbox. The 2.0-litre engine will also get a 4-speed automatic transmission. Since the Duster is a global brand for the company, we expect the new-generation Duster to feature the front-fascia similar to the Oroch concept.
