Red Bull lose appeal on Ricciardo's Melbourne disqualification
Highlights
We told you about the Red Bull Racing Team appealing against Daniel Ricciardo's Melbourne Grand Prix disqualification and now the FIA has finally heard the appeal. However, it isn't good news for the Red Bull driver as he lost the appeal and also his dream of securing his first podium finish.
Following Monday's hearing in Paris, the FIA announced on Tuesday morning that the judges "decided to uphold the decision" to exclude Ricciardo's car for exceeding the maximum allowed flow of fuel.
The argument that the Red Bull team put forward was that the FIA-homologated sensor was faulty and hence they weren't able to get a proper read. The FIA did not this and even thwarted rival Mercedes' submission that Red Bull should be further penalised in order to deter the team from committing similar breaches.
Red Bull went ahead to put up a media statement saying that it accepted the court's decision, even if they were "disappointed".
With the Chinese Grand Prix scheduled for this week, Red Bull will surely be looking for a fresh start.
