PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates The 341 Km Long Purvanchal Expressway

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur district's Karwal Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. He landed on the airstrip in an Air Force C-130J Super Hercules plane. A 3.2-km highway airstrip has been built to facilitate the emergency landing of fighter aircraft. The expressway was inaugurated in the presence of UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and governor Anandiben Patel. The Prime Minister also witnessed an airshow by the Indian Air Force. The expressway has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 22,500 crore.

The Purvanchal Expressway will connect the state capital, Lucknow to Ghazipur and will reduce the travel time from 6 hours to 3.5 hours. It begins from Chandsarai village in Lucknow and ends at Haidaria village located on NH31 in Ghazipur, around 18 km from the UP-Bihar border.
Addressing a rally in Sultanpur, the Prime Minister said, "When I laid the foundation stone of Purvanchal Expressway 3 years back, I had never thought that I will land here on an aircraft one day. This highway will benefit the poor, middle class, farmers, and traders. It is for UP's development and will lead to a better future at a faster pace."
He also lauded the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath, his team and the people of UP on the completion of the Purvanchal Expressway. He also thanked the farmers whose land was acquired for this project. He lauded the workers and the engineers who were involved in the project.
