Maruti used to offer the Swift with a 1.3-litre diesel engine, which was one of the nicer diesel engines in its segment.

    Pros:

    1. The Swift is quite a capable car. It's compact, fun-to-drive, and some of the newer versions of the car also comes with a range of creature comforts. And with Maruti's strong service network and affordable parts, long-term is not an issue.
    2. Maruti used to offer the Swift with a 1.3-litre diesel engine, which was one of the nicer diesel engines in its segment. While now the car is a petrol-only model, you can still get one in the used car market. The petrol version too is quite peppy and fun to drive.

The older Maruti Suzuki Swift was quite dated in terms of looks and quality and didn't get too many nicer creature comforts.

    Cons:

    1. Features like projector headlamps, LED DRLs, sporty alloys, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and auto climate control - were all introduced with the third-gen car. And even a used third-gen won't come cheap. A newer 3-4-year-old Swift will cost you anywhere between Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 8 lakh.
    2. The Swift has never received a satisfactory safety rating from the Global NCAP. While the new-gen model holds a 2-Star rating, the previous-gen models have also received a zero-star rating.
    3. The newer Swift certainly looks premium, it's not the best when it comes to space. While the older model was quite dated in terms of looks and quality and didn't get too many nicer creature comforts.
