Pininfarina Teases New Concept Car; Will Debut Next Month

Pininfarina, the Italian design firm, has published a teaser image of a brand new concept set to premiere next month at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

    Pininfarina, the Italian design firm, has published a teaser image of a brand new concept set to premiere next month at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. We'd like to remind you that this is the same design house in which Mahindra has acquired a controlling stake of 76.06 per cent.

    The concept will in fact be the first one to roll out from the firm after the acquisition. Mahindra has said time and again that the design house will function independently and this new concept will be the first product under the new ownership.

    Pininfarina describes this car as an 'exciting concept car' and the teaser just shows the front splitter of the car. The design of the splitter indicates it's a performance vehicle. Clearly, the concepts will not bring in much moolah, but it will help Pininfarina get some contracts out of this concept. The main reason behind the Italian design house's bad financial shape was that car manufacturers prefer to have in-house design divisions rather than outsourcing it to another firm.

    Mahindra itself has said on countless occasions that they have taken help from the design firm to get their products in shape. The TUV300 had some inputs from Pininfarina and so did the KUV100. In fact, the development of the XUV Aero Concept had a bit of 'Italianess' to it as well. The concept car will be showcased next month at Geneva and there are a lot of hopes riding on it. We can't wait to see it!
