Petrol, Diesel Prices Hiked For The 14th Time In May; Crosses Rs. 100/Litre In Thane & Jaipur

Petrol and diesel rates in India have gone up today, on May 27, 2021, for the fourteenth time this month. In the national capital Delhi, petrol price has reached Rs. 93.68 per litre, after receiving a hike of 24 paise, whereas diesel rates have gone up by 29 paise to Rs. 84.61 per litre. At the same time, in Mumbai, petrol has almost reached Rs. 100 mark, currently standing at Rs. 99.94, after receiving a 23 paise hike compared to a day before. Diesel, on the other hand, saw a hike of 30 paise, and now costs Rs. 91.87 per litre.

However, the price of petrol in Jaipur and Thane have already reached Rs. 100.17 per litre and Rs. 100.06 per litre respectively, making them the newest Indian cities to join the Rs. 100+ club. At the same time, diesel price in Jaipur and Thane stood at Rs. 93.36 per litre and Rs. 91.99 per litre, respectively. However, Jaipur's not the first city to cross the Rs. 100 per litre mark in India. Several non-metro regions in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra have already crossed that milestone. In Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district, petrol and diesel have touched Rs. 104.67 per litre and Rs. 97.49 a litre, respectively. In the Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh, petrol has breached Rs. 104.35 per litre mark and diesel retail at Rs. 95.46 a litre. Other regions where petrol prices are above Rs. 100 per litre include Jaisalmer, Banswara, Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Rewa, Ratnagiri, Aurangabad, and Parbhani.

As for the other metros, today, in Chennai petrol prices stand at Rs. 95.28 per litre, receiving a hike of 22 paise, whereas diesel rates in the city touched at Rs. 89.39 per litre, after a hike of 28 paise. In Kolkata, petrol prices stand at Rs. 93.72 per litre, after a price hike of 23 paise, while diesel rates touched Rs. 87.47 per litre, receiving a hike of 30 paise. At the same time, in Bengaluru, petrol prices reached Rs. 96.80 per litre after a hike of 25 paise, while diesel prices reached Rs. 89.70 per litre receiving a hike of 31 paise from a day before.
The oil marketing companies like - Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum are revising domestic fuel prices on a daily basis. Changes in fuel prices are implemented at 6 am every day. Fuel rates differ from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes such as value-added tax (VAT).
