Paris Motor Show 2016: Nissan Micra 5th Generation Makes Its Global Debut
Highlights
- The new Nissan Micra will have two engine options
- Sales of the new Nissan Micra will begin from March 2017
- The car is based on Renault-Nissan's CMF B platform
As far as on board technology is concerned, the Nissan Micra fifth gen gets lane departure prevention, emergency braking with pedestrian recognition, traffic sign recognition, high beam assist, Blind spot warning and so on and so forth. Also, the top trim will feature a 6-speaker Bose Personal Sound System, which Nissan says, will change the in-car entertainment experience. The car also gets a 7-inch display which takes care of infotainment, connectivity and also gets Apple CarPlay.
"When the first Micra appeared more than 30 years ago, it marked a revolution in the small hatchback segment and opened a new chapter for Nissan. The fifth generation Micra is just as revolutionary, and will raise expectations for what a hatchback can, and should, deliver to its customers," said Carlos Ghosn, CEO, Nissan Motor Company.
The all-new Micra also comes fitted with Active Ride Control for better ride experience and Active Trace Control for controlling understeer and provide better handling. There will be two engine options on offer which are the 0.9-litre three-cylinder petrol motor, which is turbocharged and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. Both the engines produce a maximum of 90bhp. Later, Nissan will also be bringing in a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine which will make 73bhp. Nissan has also worked hard on the aerodynamics and it has a drag co-efficient of barely 0.29.
The fifth gen Nissan Micra will be manufactured at the Renault plant in Flins, France and the sales will begin from March, 2017. Unfortunately, Nissan has no plans of bringing the 5th generation Micra to India, at least for now.
