Okinawa Praise E-Scooter: All You Need To Know

The electric market in India is booming right now with the government's push and electric vehicle start-ups emerging rampantly across the world. The EV market is only set to grow from here and making waves in this space is Okinawa Autotech. The company entered the electric scooter market earlier this year with the Ridge, and have now launched their new flagship - Praise electric scooter. The new Okinawa Praise is currently the fastest electric scooter in the country with a top speed of 75 kmph, and will be available with a lithium-ion battery too. The new offering certainly looks promising, and we will be riding it soon as well. Until then, here are 10 things you need to know about the new Okinawa Praise electric scooter.

1. The Okinawa Praise has been designed to look like a sporty offering and comes with a host of interesting elements. The scooter gets a plastic body and comes with an attractive looking LED headlamp cluster with daytime running lights. The scooter also gets an LED taillight and indicators. The scooter also comes with useable storage space with a glovebox up front and 19.5 litres of underseat storage.
2. Suspension duties on the Okinawa Praise e-scooter comes with telescopic forks up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking performance, on the other hand, comes from twin discs at the front, which Okinawa says improves braking by 1.8 times, while a single disc is present at the rear.
3. The Praise electric scooter is loaded with tech and a tonne of features. The model comes with an digital instrument cluster, side-stand sensor, keyless entry, anti-theft sensor, USB charging socket as well as a 'Find My Scooter' location tracker. The scooter also comes with EABS (Electronic Assist Brake System) for more effective stopping power. That said, the system should not be confused with standard Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS).
4. The Okinawa Praise uses a 1000 watt electric motor that produces about 2500 watt of power or 3.34 bhp and 40 Nm of peak torque. The scooter is currently available with a Lead Acid battery as standard, while Okinawa will also introduce a 72V, 45Ah Lithium-ion battery on the scooter in the next few months. The lithium battery will not only have a faster charging time but will also be lighter as well.

5. Okinawa claims a charging time of six to eight hours on the lead acid battery, while the lithium-ion battery comes with fast charging and is said to take only around two hours to charge. Okinawa says the lithium-ion battery with the quick charging capability will be able to hold 80 per cent charge within 45 minutes.
6. In either case, the range on the Praise e-scooter is claimed to be an impressive 170-200 km on a single charge.
7. The Okinawa Praise is currently the fastest electric scooter in the country and comes with three power modes - Eco - with the top speed limited to 35 kmph, Sporty - with the top speed limited to 65 kmph and Turbo - with the top speed all the way up to 75 kmph.

8. Yes, you do need to a driver's license to ride the Praise electric scooter. You are also needed to wear riding gear, irrespective of it being an electric or conventional two-wheeler.
9. Okinawa has received about 300 bookings for the Praise e-scooter. Bookings are already open for the model for a token amount of Rs. 2000, while deliveries have been promised towards the end of the month.
10. The Okinawa Praise electric scooter has been priced at Rs. 59,889 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and while it does not have a direct rival in the segment, the e-scooter does lock horns with a host of 125 cc offerings including the Suzuki Access 125 and Honda Grazia.
