Nissan records 29% growth in January, courtesy Terrano

Japanese carmaker Nissan's Indian subsidiary has recorded growth of 51.35% to 16,786 units for the October 2013 to January 2014 period, compared to the 11,095 units sold in the corresponding period previous year. It's the new Terrano Compact SUV, which has been driving sales up for Nissan in the country. In January alone, Nissan sold 5182 units, an increase of 29%, as against 4028 units sold in January 2013.
Commenting on the sales figures, Richard Spitzer, acting chief operating officer for Hover Automotive India (Nissan's National Sales Company) said: "We are delighted with the reception Terrano has received from the market and its impact on strengthening sales performance since October last year. We look forward to carrying this momentum into 2014, supported by models like the new Sunny sedan."
Mr. Debashis Mitra, executive director operations & advisor to COO, Hover Automotive India said that the company has had a strong start to 2014 with a remarkable rise in sales year-on-year. And despite the challenging market condition, Nissan managed to escalate its sales.
He credited company's product line-up, including Terrano, as well as innovative marketing campaigns for the improvement in perfromance. Other products that helped the company do well in January are Sunny and Micra.
