Nissan Kicks, the all-new compact SUV from the Japanese carmaker was recently revealed in its production guise ahead of its official premiere next month. Picture of the SUV were released in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where the car will be launched later this year. The company will officially unveil the car on 2 May, 2016.

First unveiled as a concept at the 2014 Sao Paulo Auto Show, the production version of the Nissan Kicks looks largely similar to the concept car. Based on the company's V-platform, the Kicks shares its underpinnings with the Nissan Micra (known as Nissan March in Brazil). The car is a 5-seater similar to the Hyundai Creta and the new Renault Duster, which was recently launched in India. While detailed specifications of the car are yet to be revealed, dimensionally the SUV is expected to be same as its concept version, which was 4,300mm long, 1,800mm wide and 1,600mm tall. The concept version had nice long wheelbase of 2,620mm, which translates into a spacious cabin.

In terms of looks, as mentioned the production version of Nissan Kicks is very identical to the concept version, which was well received. This means the car gets a nice brawny front end with the signature Nissan grille and the U-shaped chrome slat, stylish sweptback headlamps, and a muscular front bumper with horizontal LED fog lamps and a wide air dam. The SUV feature some sharp character lines the run across the side profile of the Kicks and a very funky rear portion. Further accentuating its exterior profile the SUV gets flared wheel arches and a different tone floating-style roof similar to the one seen in the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

While Nissan hasn't officially announced the car for the Indian market, the carmaker hasn't completely ruled out the option. That said Nissan already has a the Terrano in the compact SUV space, which makes us wonder even if the Nissan does bring the Kicks into our shores, which will the car be positioned? Well, we can only answer this once Nissan actually reveals what the Kicks has to offer, which is expected to happen on 2 May.
