Nissan GT-R, the legendary sports car from the Japanese auto giant today finally went on sale in India priced Rs. 1.99 Crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Ever since the new Nissan GT-R was first showcased in India at the 2016 Auto Expo, auto enthusiasts has been eagerly waiting for the car to arrive. And the Godzilla is finally here! Here is a story which has some really interesting facts on the Nissan GT-R.

Nissan India announced its plan to launch the car in India at the 2016 Auto Expo, where the GT-R officially made its India debut. Originally formed as a top-of-the-line variant for the Skyline range, the GT-R was first introduced in 1969. Nissan has brought out many upgrades and changes over the years but the 2017 Model Year car that debuted at the New York Show in March, is probably seeing the most significant changes yet. The sixth or current generation GT-R is the first time Nissan has dropped the Skyline badge from the car and made a purpose built GT-R sports car. Now, we have already driven the global-spec version of the new GT-R and we have to say the wait is definitely worth it.

The new 2017 Nissan GT-R is a 2+2 coupe as it always was but this particular car was built from the ground up to live up to the 'Godzilla' name and be quicker than most sports cars and supercars of this era. In fact, the latest iteration of the GT-R is more compact, more stylish and makes more power than ever before. In terms of looks the car still carries its intimidating stance that has been further accentuated by the new sharper lines and bolder features. The face has undergone a massive reconstruction with a new grille to allow a lot more air in to aid better engine cooling. But, it is from the side profile the compactness of the new design is more evident, whereas, the rear portion comes with the signature twin taillights are now LED rings. Other changes made to the exterior profile include - completely redesigned hood, all-new bumpers and that new grille, deeper side sills, and a new rear diffuser. The car comes in five colour options - Katasura Orange, Pearl Black, Gun Metallic, Ultimate Silver, Daytona Blue, Vibrant Red, Storm White.

The cabin has also gone through some major changes and Nissan offers a host of options for the interior coloured in - black, red, ivory or tan touring leather seats & interior. There is an abundance of high-grade leather and other premium quality materials that have further added to the premiumness of the cabin. It also gets leather appointments on the centre console, door panels, and shift lever surround you in comfort, while hand-stitching and available semi-aniline leather on the seats are a tactile and visual feast. The car also comes with a host of features like a customisable touchscreen infotainment display with additional controls placed behind the gearshifter, multi-functional steering wheel, rear-view camera and an audio system from Bose with 11 speakers.

Under the hood, the new Nissan GT-R is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 engine that churns out a maximum of 562bhp and develops 637Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox that propels this Godzilla from 0-100 km/h in just under three seconds.
