New Skoda Superb, which made its global debut in Prague earlier this year, is reportedly set for a launch in India this month. That said, Skoda is yet to confirm a launch date for the full-size sedan. The new-gen Skoda Superb is built on the VW Group's MQB (modular) platform, which also underpins the Audi A3 and the Skoda Octavia.

The new Superb's wheelbase has been increased by 80mm, thus allowing scope for comparatively more space in the cabin. To be precise, the next-generation Skoda Superb offers 39mm of more elbow room for the driver and front seat passenger (in comparison to the already previous model), 157mm legroom in the rear, and a boot capacity of 625-litre. As far as design is concerned, the upcoming Skoda Superb sports changes in the form of angular surfaces, sharp cuts, a 3D head-lamp cluster, narrow pillars, precision-cut window outline, and a sloping roofline and 'two-part' tail-lights with LED technology at the rear.

Inside, it gets ample provisions including a 3-spoke leather multi-function steering wheel, dual-zone air conditioning, electrically folding door mirrors, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, etc. Expect the list of safety features to be equally loaded with features like airbags, and electronic stability control (ESC) among others.

While the the new Skoda Superb is offered with a choice of 8 engine options (five TSI petrol and three TDI common-rail diesel) in international markets, the Indian model will come powered by re-tuned versions of the existing 1.8 TSI petrol & 2.0 TDI CR diesel units in all likelihood. Skoda is also expected to continue to offer both, manual and DSG, gearboxes on the new Superb.
