Skoda Kodiaq SUV, Octavia RS, Rapid Monte Carlo India Unveil: Highlights

Skoda Kodiaq SUV will be launched in fourth quarter (Q4) of the 2017 calendar year. Skoda India will launch the Octavia RS, and the Rapid Monte Carlo edition this month and deliveries will begin from September.

    Skoda India today announced the launch details of its upcoming models for this year - the Skoda Kodiaq, Octavia RS, and the Rapid Monte Carlo. While the Skoda Kodiaq SUV will be launched in fourth quarter (Q4) of the 2017 calendar year, the latter two will be launched in India later this month. Deliveries of the Octavia RS, and the Rapid Monte Carlo edition will begin from September. We were expecting a lot about the India-spec new Skoda Kodiaq to be revealed today, right from features, specifications and possibly even the launch date, but, for now, we only know that the SUV will officially go on sale in India around the festive season.

    We told you about the arrival of the Skoda Octavia vRS or as the company is calling it, Octavia RS, last year itself, while the 2017 model made it global unveil early this year at the Geneva Motor Show. The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo, on the other hand, is a limited edition model with is already on sale in the global markets and its finally ready to set foot in India this month.

    Now, the new Skoda Kodiaq is built on the same MQB platform that underpins the Volkswagen Tiguan SUV. In terms of styling, the Kodiaq SUV employs the company's latest crystalline design language with sharp lines, creased metal and very layered, bejewelled lighting elements.     Under the hood, the new Skoda Kodiaq comes powered by both a petrol and a diesel engine. The 2-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit churns out 177 bhp and develops a peak torque of 320 Nm. The 2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, on the other hand, comes in two states of tune - a 147 bhp and 340 Nm version and a 187 bhp and 400 Nm option, India will get either one of these two. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DSG unit.
