New Mahindra Scorpio - More Details Emerge
Highlights
While the Mahindra Scorpio facelift launch is just a few days away, more details have emerged on the copiously tweaked SUV. Slated to go on sale on September 25, 2014, Mahindra Scorpio's new version is expected to get a comprehensively redesigned front profile. Among the prominent tweaks given to the front fascia of the SUV is the front grille complemented by rectangular shaped head-lights affixed at the edge with LED incorporated daytime running lights and projector beams.
Vertical front grille arrangement has been retained from the current version. Bonnet has been revised to accommodate a new hood scoop. Chrome inserts have been bestowed on the high end variants of the SUV. Rear gets minimal changes, tail-lights come integrated with LEDs and the tailgate sports a reworked windscreen. Grab handles have been repositioned over the tail-light, a plastic moulding coloured in black has been placed on the tailgate that comes with a silver enclosure for the registration plate.

With all the aforementioned changes, the Scorpio, however, has managed to look only slightly different from the existing model. I was quite disappointed when I saw the spy shots doing the rounds; I expected the Scorpio, a car known for its masculine appeal, to be sportier and more rugged in design, but a milder and less masculine exterior design is all what M&M designers probably aimed at. Seeing the negative response the car has been receiving on different auto websites including ours, its rivals like Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano might get the benefit of this during the festive season.
Talking about the interiors, the updated Scorpio's cabin comes embedded with a revamped dashboard featuring chrome linings near the air conditioning vents and switch gears for new automatic climate control. A 6-inch touchscreen infotainment has also been borrowed from XUV 500, the infotainment system comes with a navigation system and can be used as a display for rear view camera. So, with so many features in place, the cabin has been surely done quite well.
