New Mahindra Marazzo: Key Features Explained In Detail

We've been waiting for the Mahindra Marazzo MPV with bated breath for a very long time. Finally, Mahindra unveiled its new MPV, which was till now, only spotted with camouflage during its testing stage. Now, we know the prices of the new Marazzo MPV, and considering the current rivals in the segment, Mahindra has hit a beautiful stroke. The new Mahindra Marazzo MPV is less expensive than the Tata Hexa and the current MPV segment leader, Toyota Innova Crysta, it also gets into the territory which is till now, ruled by Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and somewhat Renault Lodgy as well. However, while the prices pitch these vehicles closely, it also comes down to the features that's on offer and whether the new Mahindra Marazzo can actually make a change in the already settled segment. Exterior Features
Mahindra says that the design and development of the Marazzo MPV costed the company around $200 million, and is a complex combination between Mahindra Automotive North America (MANA), Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) and Mahindra-owned Italian design firm Pininfarina. So it was obvious that the Marazzo was destined to have the largest footprint seen on any Mahindra model yet. The dimensions speak for itself as the large body is highlighted with bold exterior features and aggressive styling. The styling, said to be inspired by the shark, hits you instantly with the aggressive and butch look. In the front, the Marazzo comes with the stylish new chrome-toothed grille along with bold double barrel headlamps that get the pilot lights. Moreover the foglamps are eye-shaped with integrated LED daytime running lamps. You also get 17-inch alloy wheels with large ORVMs and shark-tail-inspired tail lamps. It comes connected by a thick chrome slat.

Interior Design
Like the exterior, the interior of the new Marazzo MPV too comes with a swanky looking design. Now the Marazzo comes in both 7-seater and 8-seater layouts and both these versions have slight changes. While the 7-seater Marazzo MPV features captain seat in the middle row, the 8-seater model gets a foldable bench seat with a 40:20:40 split function. The overall cabin design has a premium-looking and upmarket feel to it, while the off-white interior comes with dual-tone black & off-white dashboard with a glossy centre panel and a multi-pixel design. To add a luxurious touch, Mahindra also offers a futuristic cluster with purple illumination.

Convenience Features
Moving on to the features list, the new Mahindra Marazzo comes loaded with the latest gizmos such as the roof mounted AC vents, one 12V socket and 1 USB port, touchscreen infotainment system, navigation Mahindra's Blue Sense app, Bluetooth connectivity and Android Auto. Moreover, the Marazzo also gets power windows, central locking and a driver information system along with safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, disc brakes all around and ISOFIX mounts along with over-speeding warning. It also features rear parking camera with guideline display and parking sensors. The Marazzo also has enough space for a long weekend gateway as the MPV comes with tons of cup holders and space to keep your phone, wallet etc.

Powertrain
The new Mahindra Marazzo comes with only one engine option and that's in diesel. The new 1.5-litre diesel engine churns out 121 bhp of max power and 300 Nm of peak torque, while the torque kicks in pretty early at 1500rpm. Accordant to the company, the new engine is made of aluminum, which has helped Mahindra reduce considerable weight.

Competition
According to the company, the new Marazzo does have a direct rival, but considering its an MPV, it pits against the likes of Innova Crysta from Toyota, Hexa from Tata Motors, Ertiga from Maruti Suzuki and Lodgy from Renault. While the Ertiga is the least expensive in the category, the Marazzo undercuts the Hexa and even the Innova Crysta in the segment, and also the fact that it comes in both 7-seat layout and a 8-seater layout. Mahindra has directly taken on the market of the Innova with the pricing, and also the space that it offers on the inside is much more than the others in the segment.
