New Jawa Cruiser Spotted Testing For The First Time
Highlights
- The Jawa cruiser was spotted testing in Pune
- This could be the newest Jawa offering based on the Perak
- The Jawa cruiser is likely to arrive sometime next year
Jawa Motorcycles currently has three motorcycles on sale. The Jawa, Jawa Forty-Two and the Perak, and it now seems the company is readying the fourth offering. While details are scarce on the model, the latest spy shots hint at a cruiser offering in the works, and the offering is likely to be based on the same platform as the Jawa Perak. The camouflaged test mule does not give us a lot of information but it does convey an idea of what we can come to expect on the upcoming motorcycle. The upcoming Jawa cruiser could be the brand's new flagship motorcycle upon launch.

While Jawa's existing range is all about retro, comfortable bikes, the upcoming cruiser could be positioned as a mile-muncher with more emphasis on long rides and comfort. Visually, the bike carries over most of the modern-classic elements we've come to expect from Jawa offerings. This includes the round headlamp and rearview mirrors, tear-drop shaped fuel tank, and a larger rear fender. The motorcycle also comes with a wide seat, as seen on the test bike.
It is likely that Jawa could tweak the Perak's frame and engine for a more cruiser-friendly purpose. This also means that the bike will possibly benefit from a longer wheelbase and a larger displacement 334 cc single-cylinder engine. On the Perak, the motor is tuned for about 30 bhp and 32.74 Nm of peak torque. It needs to be seen if Jawa retains the same state of tune of the engine on the cruiser too. Other cycle parts will include telescopic forks upfront and twin shocks at the rear. Braking performance will come from disc brakes at either end with dual-channel ABS.

It's too early to comment on the pricing and availability but the bike is likely to arrive in 2022 and could be priced above the Rs. 2 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. We expect to learn more details on the new Jawa cruiser in the months to come. At the same time, Classic Legends Private Limited, the parent company of the Jawa brand, is also getting ready to launch the Yezdi brand with an adventure tourer, based on the Jawa platform.
