In a bid to gain its lost ground in the mid-sized sedan segment, Hyundai India is now planning to launch the updated Verna in the country. While the updated Verna, known as Solaris, has already been launched in Russia, the Indian subsidiary of the Korean carmaker will launch it here on February 16, 2015.

The updated model features the Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy that makes it look quite similar to the updated Sonata. The facelifted Verna will get a slightly modified front fascia with larger head-lamps, redesigned bumper with LED daytime running lights, new fog-lamps, dual-slat chrome grille and a bigger airdam. The rear profile, however, might not see any major changes except for the new LEDs and new reflectors on the bumper. The interiors might remain unchanged, though we are expecting the company to add some more features.

Since the current model of the Verna has always been criticised for its suspension (too soft for handling potholes) and steering feedback, we assume that the company might have addressed both the aforementioned issues.

Coming to the engine options, the updated Verna might continue to be offered with two petrol (1.4-litre & 1.6-litre) and two diesel (1.4 and 1.6 CRDi) powertrains.
