New-Gen Audi S6 Spotted Testing
Highlights
- The new-gen Audi S6 is likely to be introduced by early 2019
- The new S6 comes with sportier alloys and a quad exhaust system
- The new S6 might come with a diesel engine on offer
It was just early this week that Audi pulled the wraps off the new-generation A6 saloon at the ongoing Geneva International Motor Show. While the car is set to go on sale later this year, the Ingolstadt-based carmaker has already started working on its performance derivative, the new Audi S6. A set of spy images of the upcoming performance sedan have now surfaced online. The car seems to be nearing the end of its development stage and Audi is expected to be introduced sometime in 2019.
Now, this particular prototype of the new-gen Audi S5 is heavily covered in camouflage, hiding all the sporty bits of the car, and if you missed the quad exhaust setup, one might even mistake it for the new A6 S-Line variant. Having said that, the car is still shot from afar so we won't be able to comment much on the visual appearance of the car, but we expect the performance version will pretty much look like a sportier version of the new A6.
The test mule is seen with a set of twin-five-spoke alloy wheels, a sloping roofline giving it a coupe-like effect, and a possible boot-mounted spoiler that has also been camouflaged. The car could get a sleeker set of LED taillamps compared to the regular A6, sportier bumpers and other cosmetic elements to differentiate it from the A6.
Engine options are still unknown, but, the new-gen Audi S6 is, for the first time, expected to get a new diesel engine, alongside the traditional petrol unit. Other technical details are still unavailable but rumours suggest both the motors will be V6s. In addition, a little later, after the S6 is launched, Audi will also introduce the new RS6 to the line-up.
