New 2017 Ford Ecosport Facelift Launched; Prices Start From Rs. 7.31 Lakh

Ford India has finally launched the new 2017 Ecosport Facelift in India at a starting price of Rs. 7.31 lakh for the base petrol variant and go up to Rs. 10.37 lakh for the top-spec diesel variant. The Ecosport was the first sub-compact sub 4-metre SUV and kickstarted the segment in India, when it was launched in 2013. This is the first major facelift that the Ecosport has received and needless to say, Ford has given major updates to the interior, exterior and the mechanicals as well. The biggest change could be seen on the face,where the new Ecosport gets a new, bigger grille along with a re-styled bumper. Also, the new Ecosport facelift gets an all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine as well.

The petrol automatic Ecosport is priced at Rs. 10.99 lakh. The Ford Ecosport takes on the likes of the very popular Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza which has become the country's highest selling SUV, the Mahindra TUV 300, the recently launched Tata Nexon and the Honda WR-V. The Ford Ecosport will also take on a wide variety of other cars bearing different body styles from premium hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai i20 to subcompact sedans like the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire.

The new Ford Ecosport Facelift now gets sharper styling with a new set of bumpers (both front and rear) and a new head lamp and grille. The new Ecosport also gets a set of well designed 17-inch wheels on the top of the line Titanium models while the other versions get 16-inch steel or alloy wheels. The Ecosport also packs in features like LED daytime running lights and the signature spare wheel mounted on the tail gate unlike the international versions. Ford says that the Indian SUV buying segment like their vehicles to look butch and the the spare wheel mounted on the tailgate does exactly that.

The interior too has received a major update with the floating tablet like display screen that replaces the older infotainment system. The Ecosport gets built in navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the top spec car too, which makes smartphone integration easy and keeps you connected. You also get features like a cooled glove box, start-stop button, keyless entry and rear parking sensors and camera. On the safety front, the Ecosport gets 6 airbags in the top spec car while the other models get two airbags as standard. The Ecosport also gets ABS as standard on all variants.

The Ford Ecosport is available with two engine options. The diesel is a 1.5-litre unit that makes 99 bhp of peak power and 205 Nm of peak torque. The diesel only gets a 5-speed manual gearbox. Ford has ditched the much loved Ecoboost 1-litre engine.
