MG Motor is not working alone in this program and is joined by all its tech partners like Cognizant, Adobe, TomTom, Airtel, SAP to support these startups. Together, they will be spending between Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 25 lakh on each idea which will be selected after extensive scrutiny. Interestingly, they have not fixed any stage or parameter for the startups to classify and even small startups started by young aspirants straight out the college can participate. All they are looking for is an idea which is worth working on.

Speaking on the launch of the MG Developer Program & Grant, Rajeev Chaba, President & MD, MG Motor India said, "We have partnered with leading tech giants to enable start-ups to build innovative applications that would enable unique experiences for customers across the entire automotive ecosystem. More partners are likely to join the program in due course. The MG Developer & Grant Program is the latest in a series of initiatives as part of our commitment to innovation as a core organizational pillar. The program will ensure proper mentoring from over 20 industry leaders for start-ups, laying a foundation for them to excel in the future and trigger a stream of newer Internet Car use-cases that will, in turn, drive adoption of new technologies within the Indian automotive ecosystem. It has been our commitment in the market and Innovation is our key pillar."
The program itself is not just limited to startups working in the auto space. The idea should be new, no matter in what sector they will be operating in. The company believes that things like shared mobility and connected technology are not just limited to the automobiles but are bigger sectors segments themselves. Similarly, any startup that comes up with something new has the ability to start a new sector.
The program kicks start today and all aspirants can enroll at company's website by the end of October. The company will release the first shortlist after October and then will conduct a Demo event after which the winners will be announced. It has not limited any number for winners and as mentioned earlier, it will select all those startups which interest the jury with their ideas. It will also assign 20 in-house mentors to the startups who will help them to shape their businesses.
