    Last year with 15 new products, Mercedes-Benz tried to show that Indian consumers are now starting to outgrow mileage-oriented cars. Now there is a whole new set of buyers who are looking out for performance and luxury in their car over fuel economy and low maintenance. To prove its point the Stuttgart-based carmaker even launched one of its most expensive cars, the Mercedes-Benz S Guard armoured car in India priced at Rs. 8.9 Crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). As if that wasn't enough the German carmaker has now decided to go a notch higher and launch a more exclusive and a more protected version of the car - the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard, which is set to be launched on March 8.

    Mercedes-Benz in conjunction with the Maybach name has produced some of the most exclusive cars that money can buy. We saw a glimpse of that last year with the launch of the Mercedes-Maybach S600 which was touted to be the epitome of luxury. Now Mercedes-Maybach will launch an armoured version of the car that comes with VR10 protection and can withstand not just bullets, but even rocket-propelled grenades. It is one of the 12 new products Mercedes-Benz India has planned to launch this year.

    The new Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard is designed to be the ideal ride for the most influential VVIPs around the world. The vehicle's outer body and structure has been developed using special integrated steel for enhanced protection. The new Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard is the only passenger vehicle that offers VR10 protection with a range of special-protection technology and equipment the car can protect its incumbents from blasts, explosives, fires and even heavy sniper firing.

    Inside it gets repositioned rear seats that allow passengers to sit further back in the sedan. The windows come with polycarbonate coating and an under body armouring to protect the vehicle from explosive devices set beneath the car. The cabin has been specially designed for protection against gas attacks by injecting fresh air in the even on one. Powering this massive beast is 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine that even with all this added weight of protection is capable of producing a monstrous 523bhp of power.
